Zumba FAQ
Q: I want to come take
your Zumba class. Can I just show up or do I need to reserve?
A: YES you can just show up. It's also helpful if you
give us a heads up that you’re coming in case of class changes. If you’re ever in
doubt, just call or email us.
Q: I've never tried Zumba
-- should I take Zumba Basics?
A: It depends on how coordinated and fit you are. If you have experience taking
other dance/fitness classes before and you normally feel comfortable following
instructors, you should just come to the regular Zumba class. If you tend to
have trouble keeping up with instructors or trying new dance moves, or get out
of breath easily, then you should come to Zumba Basics because we move at a
slower pace with more explanations.
Depending how well the
group in Zumba Basics is learning the dance moves, We may slow down or speed up
the lesson and we can cover more or less styles of dance.
Q: Do you offer Zumba
classes for free?
A: No, we don't normally offer the first Zumba class for free to keep classes
from becoming crowded. Everyone pitches in and pays to make the classes
possible. You're welcome to drop in for $10 to try the class or do a
work-exchange arrangement where you can take free classes in exchange for
helping us. Email us for more info about that.
Q: I’m so out of shape and
uncoordinated – will I be comfortable in class?
A: You gotta start somewhere in order to get in shape and become more
coordinated. It’s practice, practice, and practice! Contact me if you are
interested in an introductory class, and we’ll help you ease into Zumba!
For the more bold people, just show up to a regular class – plenty of people
who are total beginners to Zumba do that and have a blast.
If you haven’t done cardio
in a long time (or ever), I encourage you to start being active through
walking/jogging or sign up for our free workouts (Workouts Of The Day) at your own pace, and build your endurance so
you can keep your heart rate up comfortably for at least 20-30minutes.
When you are in class with us for the first
time, limit movement of the arms and just do the footwork so you can learn the
moves faster and keep your heart rate at a comfortable pace
